Motorsports and Track Engineering

Msports & Track

 In the past 17 years we have wins in many different series within the Motorsports Industry.  Segments we have competed and won in include IMSA/GrandAM, SRO/World Challenge, NASCAR and NHRA. ​ 

 

Recent achievements include:

  • Multiple North American Championships in Lamborghini Super Trofeo as well as the overall World Finals Title in 2017 in Imola, Italy.  In 2019 we lost the overall World Finals Title on a tie breaker in Jerez, Spain.

  • Multiple Touring Car wins and podiums in SRO/World Challenge in the 2019 debut season of the BimmerWorld SRO Team.  The team was voted top touring car crew in the paddock by the others we competed against.

  • Research and Development efforts that continue to produce winning cars for our motorsports customers.

Past Achievements include:

  • NHRA HotRod and Pro FWD Championships in the mid 2000s as well as the first Front Wheel Drive car over 200mph in the 1/4-mile.

  • Multiple wins, poles and podiums in the Grand Am Daytona Prototype class between 2005 and 2009.

  • Multiple wins and podiums in the Grand Am Cup ST class with BimmerWorld between 2011 and 2016.

  • NASCAR R&D and 7-Post Programs that helped to produce wins in all 3 of the top series in NASCAR.

Performance Engineering & Data Analysis

Performance Engineering involves have the correct data analysis techniques and metrics for the current task.  These feed the ability to make the best decision based on the data and your current experience quickly.

 

Methodologies Include:

  • Development of the correct analysis and metrics for performance measurement and comparison to competitors.

  • Utilization of Design of Experiments (DOE) software such as Design Expert for DOE development, analysis and optimization.

  • Creation of simulation models in CarSim, ChassisSim and Matlab for prediction and analysis.  These models are carefully correlated to real world data for validity.

  • Involvement of smart companies we partner with where needed for specialized analysis and/or tools for increased understanding.

  • Application of optimized results based on data for improved performance vs the competition on a tighter schedule for less money.

High Performance Computing

HighP Comp

Having access to high performance computing equipment as well as proper data management tools and procedures is a requirement for Motorsports and Performance Engineering.

 

Equipment and abilities Include:

  • Access to 62 cores on site with the ability to utilize more where needed via cloud computing.

  • Not all high level computing can be done in the cloud.  Many programs have licensing terms locked to a specific computer or dongle.  In many cases this requires having significant local computing power.

  • Data infrastructure and organization must be setup to utilize different machines on different platforms in many cases.

  • The picture on the right is not our data center but it's impressive looking.  We keep on site what we need to get the job done right.
